deep in the heart of texas

ok sooo i wrote a little bit before about texas (read blog entry before this one!) but i'll try and fill in the blanks w/ this one and hopefully i won't miss too much! once i get my pics together i should be able to add some more stuff i forgot.
arrived in tejas on thursday night, my cousin came to pick up my mom and i at the houston airport - my aunt jeanne had NO IDEA we were coming and she was in the car w/ christine and went nuts when she saw us, it was so great she was so excited! the drive back to college station was about an hour and a half and we chatted up a storm the whole way back. so i guess it was around midnight when we got to christine's apartment so we took a look around and went to bed. woke up pretty early, got ourselves together and went to Taco Cabanna for breakfast tacos! let the crazy food eating fest BEGIN! breakfast tacos, could there be anything better? and when i thought tacos i thought the hardshell, but really it's like a little tortilla and there were eggs and bacon and cheese in it...aaaah deliciousness. then christine took us to the A&M campus and showed us just the basics of it - one thing was the Century Tree. this is the tree where the Corps guys bring their girlfriends to propose, and the other guys in their company stand w/ their swords up and the girl walks underneath to her man! say it with me ladies: AAAWWW! so christine is hoping that her man gerlad will do that for her at some point...either under the Century Tree or at halftime of a football game - i don't know which is better. *sigh* then we drove over to gerald's dorm but he wasn't there, sad. then...we....went to james avery, a jewelry store, then to H.E.B (grocery store), back to the apt for a little nap, then out to lunch at Blu Baker (like panera, superrrrrr) and chris's roomie jessy came with. then we went to the mall and did the whole northgate thing (see previous blog!) and my night didn't end til 6am. i've decided i really love meeting new people, there's so much to discover...well i mean it depends on the person i guess. but when you find someone that you can just talk to for hours and it's the first time you've met them?! it's a cool feeling and leaves you wanting more.
saturday was my aunt's birthday, that was also in the other blog. but a little more about the Military Review (or it could be Revue...not sure). if you know me at all you'll know why i enjoyed it so verrrrrry much. all those military boys marching around, the aggie band was playing, i felt so flipping patriotic, they even had a cavalry!! yay horsies! "texas roadhouse" for dinner that night, then movies, then sleeeep.
sunday...what the...i think we slept in and then went for a walk/run at a park...sunday was a pretty relaxing day, chris just showed us some more around college station and we went out to eat at a mexican restaurant and then headed to church at 730p, which was really a great experience. i didn't think there'd be a lot of catholics down there, such a big baptist population and all, but there were so many young people there (mostly just b/c it's a huge college population) and it was just really nice. plus there were a bunch of hotties there and that's ALWAYS fun. hehe. ah i'm awful. after church we went to Sweet Eugene's for some coffee and we ended up staying there for a little more than an hour. then we went to blockbuster and rented some movies, went back to the apt and watched "meet the fockers" and went to sleep!
monday christine had an appt in the morning so my mom, aunt and i hung around the apt and watched 'super size me' and then ran to H.E.B for some things. then chris came back and we went to the George Bush Library and checked that out (it's like a museum for Bush...the old one not the new one) and that was neat, they had pieces of the Berlin wall, which was cool. then we headed over to Gold's Gym for Chris's step aerobic class (she's an instructor) and that was SO FUN!! very energetic just a really fun time for exercise. then we went back to the apt and changed, then headed back out to see what the "Rec" was. it's a huge ginormous exercise facility at A&M, it's unbelieveable. basketball courts, huge weight room, pools, squash courts, raquetball, yoga rooms, all that stuff. indoor track too, but a big one about 1/4 mile laps. then we went to...somewhere, dinner? oh! Rudy's BBQ. whooooooa real good BBQ. then we went to Sweet Eugene's again and a real cute Aggie hit on me. yaaaahooooo! then back to Chris's and my mom and i packed up our stuff and got ready for an early AM wakeup.
tuesday...today! woke up 7am and we stopped to see Research Park, went out to breakfast, stopped at wal-mart to pick up some pictures and then drove to Houston :-( got to the airport and my mom and i got on the plane and headed back to jersey. i was really sad to leave texas, i enjoyed being in a real college town and surrounded by literally thousands of people my age. plus i really had nothing to come back to in new jersey! all my friends are away doing their thing so it was kind of depressing to come back. anyhoo had an awesome time i can't wait to go back, when i get my pics i'll put them up on my yahoo pics! here's the site in case you don't have it: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/megoneill21/

adios!
